Bears try to swat down the REV

Come support the REV in the playoffs! Saturday night, 7 p.m. Bingham HS – 10600 S 2160 W – South Jordan

The first round of the Rocky Mountain Football poses some very interesting matchups to say the least. The defending champs, the Cache Valley Bears, open up the playoffs against the team that 3 weeks ago sent them packing their bags back to Logan, with a 39-6 win in South Jordan. Well the date has changed, but the team, venue, and time are all the same. This Saturday at 7:00pm, the REVolution will face off once again with the Bears in a quest to see who’s the dominant team in the South.

The Bears have always been known for smash mouth football. The REV have proven this year that they are capable of matching that attack-style of football the Bears are notorious for. In the last matchup between these 2 powerhouses, Ryan Seely took a thunderous shot while coming over the middle by the fearless leader of the Bears, Jay Tupe. Seely was down for a bit, but managed to shake off the hit and continue the game. Boy did he ever. Seely finished the game leading all players from both teams with 7 catches for 142 yds, and 2 TD’s.

The preparation for this game will be a bit different than last game for the REV. The first game was a big question mark, with who’s gonna show up, do they have a special QB or other star player in the wings? Well the playoffs are different in the Rocky Mountain Football League. Each player who participates in the game, has to qualify during the regular season to play in the playoffs. The league requires all players to participate in 3 games as an active player to do so. The Bears boast a mighty roster, touting some highly decorated and experienced players. However, those players must have completed the league minimum in games played. This makes the game planning for REV Head Coach Eric Drage, and Defensive Coordinator Everestt Matagi a lot easier. Game film from the last game should be a good indication of what to expect in this game.

But don’t expect the Bears to roll over and play dead. They will bring it til the very end. There will be 15 minute quarter for the playoffs which could work for both teams. The passing attack of the REV will be able to put more points on the board, which could be scary given that they lead the league in points scored with 48/game. The goal of the REV at this point is to win at all costs to continue to the next round, and remain injury free. Stats do not matter at this point.

Game time is at 7:00pm at Bingham High School. There is possibly onlly 2 home games left. Come support your team and bring your friends as this is gonna be fun. The playoffs are here, let the games begin.
