Memories of 2009 Season – Wasatch Revolution

What a fun time. This has been a pretty hard year for me. I personally have felt the downfall in the economy in quite a large way. Playing for the Wasatch Revolution has been such an escape for me. For 4 hours on Saturday I didn’t think once about the financial trials I, or my company, was facing. It was so nice to get out there and catch balls, score touchdowns, get hit, hit back, mess around with the guys, and most importantly win.

Regardless of the reasons people played (love football, love competition, love hitting, felt you were disrespected by your high school coach, or college coach, your career ended poorly, you developed late, you wanted film to send to colleges, all of the above, or you just wanted Charlie to stop calling you) everyone wants to win. Winning the championship was the only way I’d look at this as a successful endeavor. Did I have fun. Check. Did I avoid serious injury. Check. Did I get Charlie off my back. Check. DID I WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. CHECK CHECK CHECK.

Once I committed to playing that was the only goal I had. Sure I wanted to catch a ton of balls and score a bunch of touchdowns but we had so many guys who could do that it really didn’t matter which guy did it as long as it was someone from the Rev. I made a lot of new friends and even renewed some old ones (DC, Harward, Chuck, Setema, Teag, Cubs, Marcus) I was very impressed with the entire team. I know Charlie said to point out those that impressed me but it’s too hard to focus on just one. The defense was outstanding. The O-line was great. Our running backs never complained about us throwing the ball 80-90% of the time. The wideouts and tight ends I got to play with were top notch and of course, Chuck and Dakota were outstanding.

I really like how we came together as a team on and off the field. Off the field, Chuck, Eric, and Golden were constantly doing extra for me personally as well as the team. Darin Smith not only led the defense but took all my medical inquiries as well. This wasn’t just a championship team, but a team full of good people. I’m proud to be a part of it. Thanks to everyone and hopefully you all come back to play another year.
